How to format the computer hard drive without a CD?

My old computer HAS windows XP and I do not Have Any of the CD’s Because I Threw em away thinking I Was Never Going to Need Them again. I Took the computer to a repair shop and charge me an arm THEY and a leg to reprogram it. . . Basically to format, wipe out the hard drive clean. . . Can Someone Give me good info as in What to do, What book to read to find info, etc.. . Thanks, ALL help Greatly appreciated. Note: I do not Have to save anything I want in this computer. . . so I do not mind DELETING everything and starting from scratch. I want to format and then install windows 7. . . I tried to do the right click on hard drive and then format, purpose It Is not letting me. . . I Tried Manually do it (going to c: winnt32. Exe purpose it says it can not Be Done Because It Is not installed) if It Was not I Would not Be Able installed to use it, right? I Thought so. ALL feedback Greatly appreciated.

Lets say there is a way to format the computer without the CD……what are you going to install after the format if you don’t have the operating system CD???

You do know that you are going to need a windows cd when you format the hard drive? You can’t use your pc without installing an Operating System. Its the only way to run your pc. However if you want to format all drives except the SYSTEM DRIVE(where windows is installed) Then open My Computer and right click each drive and click format. (NTFS is better that FAT32)
